Autumn in the Palm Beaches: Things to Do in West Palm Beach This October

October is a great time to experience West Palm Beach. With warm weather, outdoor events and a full calendar of things to do, fall in South Florida looks a little different. There are no changing leaves or chilly mornings, but there are waterfront concerts, Saturday markets, local dining events and plenty of opportunities to explore downtown.

For guests staying at Hotel AKA West Palm, many of West Palm Beach’s top attractions and seasonal events are close by. From Clematis Street and the waterfront to Palm Beach Island just across the Intracoastal, here are a few things to add to your October itinerary.

Live Music on the Waterfront

One of the easiest ways to spend an evening in downtown West Palm Beach is Clematis by Night, the weekly Thursday evening concert series along the waterfront.

With live music, drinks and views of the Intracoastal, it is a relaxed way to experience the city after a day of exploring. October brings several performances throughout the month, giving visitors another reason to head downtown and enjoy an evening outside.

Start Your Saturday at the GreenMarket

Saturday mornings in downtown West Palm Beach are made for exploring. The West Palm Beach GreenMarket returns October 10, bringing more than 100 vendors to the waterfront with fresh produce, flowers, specialty foods, coffee, tea and more.

Running alongside the GreenMarket, the West Palm Beach Antique & Flea offers vintage pieces, collectibles and other unique finds. Both markets continue throughout the season, making them easy additions to a West Palm Beach weekend itinerary.

A Taste of West Palm Beach

For an evening centered around local food, A Taste of West Palm Beach returns to CityPlace on October 16 from 6–8 p.m.

The event brings together more than 30 local restaurants for an evening of food, entertainment and special experiences, while also supporting the Palm Beach County Food Bank. It is a chance to sample some of the local restaurants that make the West Palm Beach dining scene worth exploring.

Try the New Cold Foam Drinks at a.market

Fall flavors are also making their way onto the menu at a.market on Olive, located at Hotel AKA West Palm.

The latest seasonal offerings include cold foam coffees and matcha, giving guests a way to enjoy familiar fall flavors without reaching for a hot drink. Choose from options like pumpkin, vanilla or caramel cold foam and pair your drink with something from a.market before heading out for the day.

Whether you are starting a morning in downtown West Palm Beach or returning to the hotel after exploring Palm Beach, a.market is a convenient stop right on property.

Spend Halloween Weekend at LagoonFest

On October 31, LagoonFest returns to Flagler Drive for a free, family-friendly celebration of Lake Worth Lagoon.

The event includes wildlife presentations, environmental exhibits, hands-on activities and scientist-guided tours from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. With the West Palm Beach GreenMarket also taking place that morning, visitors can combine both events for a full Saturday in downtown West Palm Beach.

Explore Palm Beach Island

One of the advantages of staying at Hotel AKA West Palm is the easy access to Palm Beach Island. Just across the Intracoastal, Palm Beach offers a change of scenery while remaining close to downtown West Palm Beach.

Spend the morning walking along the beach, browse the shops along Worth Avenue or settle in for lunch or dinner before heading back to the hotel.

Visitors looking to get involved locally can also join the Turtle Tuesday Beach Cleanup on October 13 from 5–7 p.m. The community cleanup takes place on Palm Beach and provides supplies for participants.

Experience West Palm Beach This Fall

October offers plenty of ways to experience West Palm Beach without having to plan too far ahead. Spend an evening listening to live music along the waterfront, browse the GreenMarket on Saturday morning, try local restaurants at CityPlace or cross the bridge to spend the day exploring Palm Beach.

And when you are ready for a break, return to Hotel AKA West Palm, where downtown West Palm Beach, the waterfront and Palm Beach are all within easy reach.

Whether you are visiting for a weekend or planning a longer stay, October is a great time to explore everything happening in West Palm Beach.
